Trump preventing a possible military coup...

The general is appointed by the President and serves at his will. I believe that only a sitting President can ask for his removal/transfer, which would have to come through the COC, I would expect.

In other words, this is the Obama Administration and/or current DOD at work, not Trump.

Seems like he doesn't want to serve under trump or he's made some feelings known to that sort.

If he had done anything immoral or it was something illegal contrary to my assumption it would be immediate, and not centered around the day trump becomes CiC

Yep, and is the Trump transition team aware that they have to order a replacement? This job orders all of the police protection, organization of local DC; outside of the secret service.

This was my initial thought as well -- but I'm not sure if COC can issue a "your fired one minute after I am fired" order. He'd have to say, "your fired at 11:59", right?

I'm curious if this is a completely new occurrence or if this happens during every Change of Power.

Obama's not a prick like Trump, so no this wouldnt be something Obama would do...but Trump, aka the dickhead, also fired the announcer that had done 11 presidential inag's.
