I had a one night trip for a meeting a few months back and Delta didn't deliver my checked back with my suit in it. They told me to go back upstairs to the Brooks Brothers in the airport and get what I needed, and they sent me a check for $1,000 to cover it. I was pretty happy with their customer service.

Let me break this down for you. If you're on a flight with 150 passengers and the pilot waits 5 minutes for your luggage, chances are a few people will miss their connecting flights. That cost is far greater to the airline than the cost of getting you your bags 3 days late. That's the risk you run when you check a bag. Next time carry on.
