ripping health insurance from >20M people?
Uh.. how many people had their insurance negatively impacted because of Obamacare? You know... if you like your plan you can keep it. If you like your doctor, you can keep him/her. That sort of thing. Just curious. I'll await your response.

Fewer than had their insurance positively impacted because of the ACA.

Too expensive. It's gone. Kiss your insurance goodby. I can't wait to go back to the doctor I wasn't allowed to keep!!

Obama certainly did a bang up job there.
And if we'd stayed, you would be whining about the SOFA that allowed US troops to be charged under Iraqi laws. If you look long enough for something to whine about, you'll inevitably find it.

Yes and no. Obama made the best of many bad decisions, and those decisions were forced upon him by Bush's unforced mistakes.
Same could be said of the recession. It's almost as if removing regulations on the banking industry can make them more reckless, which can lead to disaster. Let's see how that turns out when Republicans try it this time!

you do realize that if Wall Street wasn't so highly regulated, these investment ideas/vehicles would have likely never been created?
these advanced securities were created to get around the complex regulations, which made their danger increase. without the regs, they wouldn't have been created b/c there wouldn't have been a demand for these
more regs = more complex and unstable securities

That has nothing to do with the complete clusterfrick Obama made of the entire region.

Like repeal of the ACA, illegal gun control, or voter identification requirements...

Interesting. Let me try...
Bush made the best of many bad decisions, and those decisions were forced upon him by Clinton's unforced mistakes.

It's almost like Bill Clinton signed more financial deregulation legislation that any other president in history. It's almost like Bill Clinton destroyed American manufacturing with bogus trade agreements. It's almost like Bill Clinton expanded an already ineffective and wasteful war on drugs, domestically and internationally.
If you want to have an accountability, here I am. The difference is that I can admit where my "side" fricked up. I'd just ask that you do the same.

Cheaper than projected, slowing costs across the health sector.
That you think repealing it is cheaper merely means you don't understand the issue and haven't thought much about it.

Yeah, there are no problems with 20M people being kicked off of their insurance, the highest rate of gun violence in the developed world, or disenfranchising citizens because they're brown/black.

Which of Clinton's 'mistakes', in your eyes, led us into a war of choice in Iraq?

This is still meaningless, no matter how many times you try to inject it into the discussion.

Repeal is cause for celebration.

Every one of those is a misrepresentation of the facts. Every single one.

It was collective stupidity. We can certainly discuss how terrible Clinton's foreign policy was if you like.

I must also say that I enjoy how you ignored a significant portion of my post.
Well done.

we love our repeals, don't we folks?
Posted on 1/12/17 at 1:28 pm to ds4ua1020
Rand probably knows what's going to happen. People like the fact that under Obamacare, insurance companies have to cover preexiating conditions. If you're not going to mandate young people purchase insurance policies, the answer is a government plan like Citizens or an expansion of Medicare if you want preexisting condition coverage. That will blow up the deficit and make Rand unhappy. The republicans choices are not very appealing and that's why repeal and wait 3 years seems the choice for the moment.

Anything else or just nitpicking today?

I'm just here to help. I do like the repeal action.
I hope there are consequences for the hidden taxes that were collected and the 100s of times the law was changed without a vote.

Without a replacement, it's a repeal in name only. The preexisting condition coverage is a sticky problem - particularly for defecit hawks like Paul.

Repeal without replace (there is no replacement yet) = >20M people losing access to health insurance.
We have the highest rates of gun violence among OECD countries.
Voter ID laws disproportionately affect minorities - sometimes so nakedly that the legislators are on the record wanting just that (hi, North Carolina).
Your inability to acknowledge objective fact used to be amusing. Now it's boring.
