Vicious North wind howling
Shooting house on little micro plot

Bundled up....warm now that I was able to break into the stand. All windows and the door were frozen closed.

Forest floor frozen, should be able to hear em coming pretty well.

No major rut sign yet.

Hunting more or less cause that's what you do when it's in the twenties in South Louisiana

Kitchen table eating donuts with my 3 year old mini me.
The roads are terrible out there, it would have taken me 2 hours to drive to the lease, and still hope I make it safely.

To those out there braving the roads to get in the stand be careful and good luck. I'm going to try to get in an afternoon hunt if the roads clear up.

it was a good morning.

Laid on the backside of a little mound and watched a group of does and yearlings on the other side eat corn from a corn pile about 50 yards away.

About 8 o'clock realized my beard was frozen. Lol.

No shooters but a it was still a nice relaxing morning. Best stress reliever money can buy.

Rapides.
Prob 30 degrees
Climbed in stand at 11

Smooth missed a doe standing broadside at 100 yards at 11:30. Back in stand after 45 minutes of looking for a track. Hair or blood. Ran into a briar thicket. Didn't look hit, frozen ground and no tracks makes it damn near impossible

Kinda quartering to me but not much...hard to believe. Shoulda had my 7 year old here, he doesn't shoot like a blind man
