I'm playing a 5E monk right now and it's a good time.
The seriousness is entirely dependent on your playgroup, but it sounds like you won't be super serious about it, which is completely fine. I've played with groups all along the serious-not serious scale, but usually on the serious side.
My wife gets way more into it than I do. She's playing a LG Vengeance paladin in our campaign and is getting super stressed about it. She's the only LG character in the campaign and her paladin isn't handling our chaoticness very well, so she's conflicted between properly roleplaying the character (leaving the party entirely) and wanting to continue playing the character.

What does LG mean?
How exactly do you "roleplay" the character?
Do you describe things in first or third person?
Anymore essential reads?
