I played from time to time years ago. Once your comfortable with your inner nerd, it's really fun.

Don't take it seriously. Role play, but have some fun with it. A couple dudes played it super cereal and the nerd/creep factor killed the fun. One dude got pissed because I did something he deemed "out of character". Didn't play with that chode again.

I played as a rogue. Fricking loved it. Being stealthy and being a smartass, finding hidden shite like traps...I wanted a character where I could be a bit of a clown, but be really useful to the party. Seemed to fit well. I tried to backstab a demon or something, got killed. The DM explaining how I got wrecked had us laughing until we were crying. Got resurrected after the fight and the rest of the party made a fake tombstone where I fell with some smartass epitaph on it "Here lies Me'lab with an epic fail backstab" or some crap
