It's the AAA portability of Nintendo first party that's the kicker. I haven't owned a Nintendo handheld console since the DS, and even that i didn't play much. Because it seemed I only played when I was away from the house. I just can't get up with playing handheld style games at home. They were useful for gaming on the go, so it all depended on how much time I was out of the house and available.
I intend to bring the Switch when I travel and it feels different; and be able to have any of those games experiences anywhere I am? That's a big difference maker.

Breesus had a post maybe on this page or the one before that's just one example of why I think this will be a big seller. There's so many ways the portability aspect is appealing
