If eye contact is made and they speak, I would usually speak even it is just "hey" when I would see so.eone for the first time.

But I wouldnt go into too much h detail. I'm not asking them about their weekend or the weather or any shite like that. A simple, "hey, how are you", or "good morning" or just a nod and a smile I guess. I don't just blow past people without doing something.

I usually just do whatever they do back at them.
