Should the Coast Guard and Border Patrol become one group?

The Coast Guard is one of our armed military services, while the Border Patrol is a law enforcement, employee-based department.

I know they are both part of DHS, but it appears they have a totally different structure, for a similar-type job.

It seems to me that our border should be secured by a more career military type group, than a unionized government police force.

no..Though the USCG is a pseudo law enforcement entity, it is still a military organization. CBP and the USCG are incompatible.

Sure. Whatever reduces waste and bureaucratic overhead I'm all for.

Some overlap in mission =/= same mission. They have differing missions. They're pretty interoperable. They don't need to combine.
