So I live in Michigan and obviously can't get it here. I did a beer trade with a buddy back home, and this is what I feel...

It's an outstanding beer! One of the better IPA's I've had. Light, hoppy, and smooth. But there is a but...

Is it worth the hype...no. Should you order it or purchase it if it's available, hell yes. There's plenty of readily available IPA's out there that can do the job ghost does.

Downvote away!

Ballast Point Dorado is a good DIPA.

Does it have to be classified as DIPA or can it be just an IPA?

Plus, some sites will label GITM as LA's best IPA. If it's a DIPA, what is LA's best IPA in your expertise opinion?

The four IPAs/DIPAs you listed aren't in the same neighborhood as Ghost (juicy or danky version), in my non-maven opinion.

Well it's 8:20 am Christmas Day and I'm getting my green egg cleaned out and loaded so just for the hell of it I opened a Bloom.

This is one hell of a beer.

I have 3 cases of DDH Envie in one of my iceboxes and my nephew is bringing me 4 growlers of it this morning to give as gifts.

I don't have any Ghost at the moment but with these two I really don't give a shite.

So....Cheers!

I've got some Ghost Shelf turding around here. Not really, it's in my fridge. I just want to say shelf turding.

This is what Ghost use to look like. Taken at Cochon Butcher, on tap. May 2016 I think.

OP- what is the date on your GITM?

I was originally in disbelief, but the last 2 batches of GITM have not been up to the usual standards. Parish has since identified the problem (with the house yeast) and should be able to correct it

If you had one of the last 2 batches, please try give it a try again in the future. It should be much better

Edit: Bloom was brewed with the new yeast, and if it is any indication, the next batch of Ghost should be back to its former greatness

The date is 11/15/16. Don't get me wrong, it's an excellent beer. One of the best I've had.

After reading this board for the past couple of years, it seems like it's more of a thrill to hunt it down for some.

I always go into the liquor/beer store here and ask for anything that's rare. It's fun to try new ones. I'm just not sure why GITM is so scarce.

Are you just trolling?

Bc if you read this board weekly, you should know that the batch of ghost you drank is crap compared to what it has always been.

Not trolling. I live in Michigan now, and did a beer exchange with a friend back home in Louisiana. It's my first and only batch of GITM I've had.

I was referring to going into the liquor/beer stores here, and asking for those rare and hard to get items.

Ghost is a DIPA and Parish doesn't make enough of it to keep up with the demand for a world-class fresh, local DIPA. They actually probably make just enough, actually. The dry periods when it is not available probably drive demand when they do bottle a fresh batch.

Trade with your buddy for the next batch. It will be significantly different from the last batch that was put out, from what I'm hearing.

Thanks for the info! Much appreciated!

I do like it even if it's a shitty batch.

Merry Christmas everyone!
