The bathroom bill has cost the state millions of dollars and the issue is a major reason why the Democrats regained the governorship in NC.

McCrory lost reelection bc of blow back for the I-77 toll expansion in N.Mecklenburg County. Residents of this area, north of Charlotte, fought with the state to stop toll lanes from being added to the interstate but failed to persuade the Governor to stop the project. Republicans hold a majority of voters in this area and McCroy received approximately 20,000 fewer votes than the Republican Lt. Governor from those voting districts.

Agreed. This affects no one. Trannies will still use the women's restrooms and this is nothing more than fake destructive outrage on both sides of the aisle.

Why did NC throw McCrory out and elect a supermajority R legislature? Kind of seems self-defeating to do those two things at the same time.

They were fricking pissed at McCrory for I-77 toll roads. It's expensive as hell and it runs right through his biggest base of support in the burbs which was idiotic on his part.

No worries. It'll pass in January. True that not every Republican voted for the repeal, but it is also true that no Dems voted for it either. The Dems don't want to give McCrory anything to crow about before leaving office.

The people who wrote the law are full of shite, and it's obvious. The people protesting it are 100% justified, and protests like these will continue until the weirdos who write laws like these, designed to solve problems that don't even exist, grow out of their negative fixations on everything that isn't cisgender and heterosexual.

While the General Assembly gets blamed for this mess, the blame should fall on the city of Charlotte. City council was advised by the state not to pass the local ordinance because it did not have the authority to do so under state law (NC has some weird legal structuring - Raleigh weilds too much power).

City council passed the law anyway, and here we are. Now, the council repealed it's ordinance this week, which prompted the special session. The votes were supposed to be there for repeal, but BOTH sides are acting like little kids.

Once the new governor and reps are sworn in, it should be done pretty quickly.

If a problem didn't exist, why did Charlotte see the need to pass an ordinance? That's where it started.

Because Jennifer Roberts aspired for higher offices and this was her way of getting name recognition while riding that SJW wave.

States deciding what's best for themselves. Interesting premise. I like it.

Good, because as soon as the ink was dry, Charlotte (or Asheville) would pull the same shite again.

Some of the local legislators were pissed off that Charlotte put a deadline on the repeal. The legislators didn't trust the city.

These people who wrote the bill need a real cause.
By that, you mean the people who wrote a law extending transgender rights in HB2?

His response is going to be, "I meant exactly what I wrote"
