I think the OP is pretty spot on. We're are a better team than last year with less big-time talent, but good talent and quality depth, something we didn't have last year. We have a good opportunity to be top 4 in the league and make it to the tournament. I think realistically we'll be .500 in the league and make the NIT. Honestly, what else were you expecting from this team. They play hard, but are still young. The sophomores are starting to figure it out better, but we still have freshmen playing significant minutes. Later in the season when Mays & Sims start to turn it up a little and we get Jenkins back, we'll be pretty stout on the defensive end. We're a quality point guard away from being really good. If Jenkins can come back and be that guy, we'll be fine. If we've learned anything from the football team, hold your judgments until after the season is over. So far CJJ is exceeding the expectations that we had before the season started. Geaux Tigers!

That is absolutely fair.

I think expectation is a very subjective notion. In our case I think expectations are lower than they should be for this team relative to the talent based on what we saw last year, so that merely playing near the level we should is deemed by some to be overachieving.

I used up my benefit of the doubt with that shite show last year. I would love to shock the world and for this team to show us something special. But for me at least it's going to be harder earned because of the recent past, particularly last year.

But yes, Geaux Tigers....I only want to see a product I can be proud of at the end of the year.
