But Crimea made sense, strategically. Close to the Russian borders. Large population identified with the people of Russia. Has several large natural gas oil fields. Port city. It made sense.

Allepo doesn't make any sense for Russia to invade and take over, especially if it's in cahoots with the Syrian regime. Which leads me to believe, that this headline is mere sensationalism, and doesn't pass the smell test.
