Because it gives the appearance of impropriety, or special treatment, base on economic class.
The article said he called the Sheriff, meaning he had his phone number, at 11-ish at night. The Sheriff provided special treatment to him.
This is compounded if the CEO is a campaign donor.

But he didn't? He still got arrested and due process begins, He got him processed faster.
