I don't care if Putin influenced our elections.

We're beyond "America" now. Putin is an ally and the Dems are the enemy. Zero sum game.

Globalists vs Nationalists and it's a zero sum game. The American Globalists are the leader of the opposition. What hurts one side helps the other. Thank you Vladimir.

I would disagree. The interests of America and the interests of Russia do not align as often as they differ, even if we are under (especially, perhaps) an explicitly nationalist government.

This lack of natural alliance doe not preclude cooperation where it is possible, but do not believe for a second that Russia's hypothetical gains in a given scenario are also good for us.

You're an idiot if you think Putin wouldn't cut your throat as you sleep.

It's evident in the "cities" movement...subtle but evident...

Russia didn't influence the election. The exposition of corruption by the Democrats and Hillary Clinton influenced the election.

Putin is an ally as we both believe in stopping Islam and not going to war with each other.

Also, because Russians are Europeans - like most of us.

I guess someone wanted us to know the truth. The truth set us free.

Yet, we are on different sides in terms of thalassocracy/individualism/Atlanticism compared to the far more spiritual, land-based and conservative nature of continental Europeans, especially Germans and Russians.

Agreed

But...

At this point in time why should we have so many un-aligned interests? The spread of communism angle is all but dead. Sure they are more totalitarian than us but when has that stopped us with policies with other nations?

So to expand, what are our legitimate conflicts? Eastern Europe? It's not worth our time IMO. We have as much influence as we do there simply to keep Russia in check, which I think at best is counterproductive, and at worst spending billions of dollars acknowledging fake NATO countries that we wouldn't actually defend if push came to shove.

Pretty hilarious to see McCarthyism come full circle. In the end we will have Donald J Trump inaugurated no matter what these faglord media pundits say. Embrace it.

It is not in 'our' interests, it is in the interests of those who have power. Russia is one of the few non-USG aligned governments threatening hegemonic neoliberal global order, and we are always trying to change that - from stirring up shite in the Baltics and EE, to promoting CIA assets like Pussy Riot....the list goes on in ways we are trying to de-Russify the Bear. It will not work as our system is incoherent and schizophrenic. Russia may not be that great, but it at least has a sense of itself. We do not, and that is why we seem to be unravelling at the seams.

Putin is NOT an ally - don't kid yourself. If our debt rises to unsastainable levels, Russia will take advantage of us like there is no tomorrow.

I do.

I would like to see actual evidence before I make a decision though.

I don't trust government bureaucrats.
