A state which is basically a foreign country? I can say with 100% accuracy that CA is unlike any other state in America, even new york. It has nearly all of America's Asians and middle eastern residents (I believe over 80% of US Asians live in CA and 75% of Muslims). It BY FAR has the most immigrants of any state, and it is by far the least "american state" in the sense that it essentially has hundreds of random cultures in it. Traditional American values are almost non-existent here, and the very idea of being "American" is just not taken very seriously here. It is a full on globalist, citizen of the planet, state.
I'm not downplaying the state economically, it's an amazing state in that regards. But politically, it shouldn't be important that the conservative republican gets blown out here. What's more important? One state that is essentially a foreign country or 5 states in the midwest that you win in all?
It's not a state representative of america as a whole. Not other state is even REMOTELY like california. Trump won the south, he won the midwest, he won large parts of the west, and he did decently in the northeast, such as maine and NH. It's obvious he has broad appeal across many various regions.
Keep on acting like california matters, liberals. Just invest all your money in this state.

Huh? Who has said this? California will always be blue. Why should it be a shock?
I mean this is like the GOP winning Texas. How much did Trump win TX? Seriously curious.

Ok. Take away Texas, Oklahoma, etc. what would Trump's margin be? The city of LA has more people then several enire deep red states combined. I don't understand what you're whining about?

30% of Asians in the US by most census estimates live in CA - and half have been there a long time...most of interment camp refugees came from 2nd gen CA.
Asian-Americans make up 15% of CA population.
Not sure the point of your thread but Texas and New Mexico have higher % of Hispanics than CA.
And California has the largest population of White Americans in the U.S.
Is that traditional enough for you?

That's the coastal big cities, like the other poster pointed out...and mostly Bay Area and parts of LA.
OP and most don't know what the hell they're talking about. CA isn't just what you see from Hollywood. OP watches too much Kardashians.
East from the shores - the giant central valley - the region with the highest farm revenues in the entire country, rank among the poorest in the state and nation - are home to cowpoke towns with Average very conservative old white retiree folks who eat at Denny's, many generations conservative Mexican-Americans, illegal Mexicans and a bunch of middle-aged rednecks.
Just like Oregon, you take out Portland and it's a red state.
These are maps from recent elections.
