Have you tried connecting the device you want to stream to via Ethernet to your router? Can you try that first?

At a minimum plug the laptop in via Ethernet and run speed test to establish a baseline on how fast your broadband actually is coming into your house.

The next step is to look into wifi signal issues. If you have a baby monitor unplug that.

Do you use apple or android? Download wifi analyzer and walk around your house seeing how string the signal is in different locations.

How close are your neighbors?

How many wifi networks other than yours can you detect in the house?

Remember others can hide the SSID so other radio interference could be going on even if you don't see other wifi networks.

Try connecting to both 2.4 and 5ghz if it supportsd both.

Change the channel on your router to the one wifi analyzer identified as having less interference.

All these things I mention are super easy even for tech challenged people.
