All around it. If there was an old house or camp around I'd search the whole area.
Work in a grid pattern and keep track of what you searched. And dog every signal, even if you think it's trash in the ground. Dig it up and put it aside

Wouldn't be a bad idea around it. You need to look for a old home foundation spot. Shouldn't be far from the well obviously. I would think the well would've been behind the house.
You need to find the old trash spot. Look for a ravine. Those were where people used to throw old bottles and other discarded items. Could find anything there.
