The gentrification in NOLA is something all cities should work towards. Of course, not all cities get a clean slate in certain areas like NOLA did because of Katrina but it can be accomplished. There are parts of Lake Charles that are slowly gentrifying and that will probably speed up as a new development that is going up in a questionable part of town continues to progress.

It is 20 degrees outside and I have to carry Sir Winston most of the way to the park so he won't get rock salt stuck in between his paw pads.
But I don't care - I welcome this weather because it means I don't have to make small talk and then get asked for a dollar by five black men in a four block radius.
ETA: The leftist war on gentrification is proof at how fricking stupid liberalism is. Gentrifiers are ALWAYS liberals. ALWAYS. There are 99 good things about gentrification and 1 "bad" thing (that is actually good). So dumb.

Minorities need to stop blaming racism and start accepting responsibility for the way they are. Once they accept that they need to make changes, then we will make progress. But I don't see that day coming any time soon

I can attest to this having lived in a small town that was an offshoot of a city. It had one of the highest median incomes in the state and they were building their own schools and bringing in business to support the community.

If the government would stop welfare and proper punish the law breakers we would see a quick turnaround in the urban areas (I imagine in race relations in general too).

Not to mention racist because instead of using cheap public transit they must drive 45 min into the city to work. What if they can't afford a reliable vehicle?

Some of you may remember an Obama plan to have every county identify neighborhoods that are all white and force those areas to build section 8 housing to integrate them. I read an article last week that the idea has been scrapped due to the election of Trump.

Most of you superior whites can't afford to live in the neighborhoods in question anyway so why do you care? 
I would guess that 2% of the posters here could afford my neighborhood in NOLA. And half of those probably got their start from their parents.
The feeling of superiority you feel is baffling considering how much time this board spends crying about the lack of opportunities in the economy. Stop posting and get a job that doesn't require a uniform with your name on it.

Yea, I mean it's not like white males didn't have a 200+yr head start in a country that's only 240 yrs old. I'm Sure that's not a factor.

I've also noticed that everyone with this observation and conclusion have been deem racist, bigots, xenophobe, etc by the politically correct crowd.
I've also noticed that the politically correct police are a combination of ignorant and stupid. The percent of each varies from one to another. Some educated but all not very smart.
Having said this let me retreat to m safe space.

I get asked for money about 5 times each way to work every morning
I hate it
The worst was when some bum got into my apartment complex and was sleeping on the damn treadmill in our fitness room. I got in there at 5am to do some treadmill and frick there is a bum sleeping on it. I ended up using a separate treadmill and woke his arse up - he got mad at me for being loud! The nerve. I called building security and they escorted him out.
Another time a bum got in and was literally going door to door knocking on people's rooms asking for money. Pathetic. I slammed the door in her face and called building security. I have them on speed dial now
