Talk in the other board has me intrigued. After shooting the 6.5 Creedmore and seeing the damage it causes with complete lack of recoil I'm intrested in the 280 for a future elk hunt. Yes the 7mag is plenty capable, but the lack of recoil on possible 500 yard shots can mean the difference. So where would you start? i would be a virgin building this so be easy on me.

Kimber offers a production gun in the .280ai. It's not cheap, but cheaper than going custom. Other than that, I'm sure any custom rifle maker will chamber it in .280ai if you like. Recoil, from what I've read is definitely better than a mag, but about the same as a 30-06, so much greater than the 6.5. I'm wanting to get one and have looked into the caliber a lot and really like what I have found.

Kimber
Like most guns, I'm sure you can find it for cheaper than the MSRP.

I don't know shite, but why couldn't you buy a rifle in .280 and have it reamed?

Nice thread, hopefully someone knowledgeable can chime in. Im interested in the 280 AI, 7mm STW, and 6.5 Leopard (300 WSM x 6.5). If lived out west I'd just go with a 30-378 and call it a day.
