re: What were the democrats like in the 80s/90s?

Growing up, I don't recall the chasm between reps and dems being that large.

I feel like it's grown exponentially as I've gotten older. But that may be because I was a kid.

I also think some of the same stuff may have been going on, but the 80's and 90's were free of social media, therefore every tom, dick and harry couldn't constantly share their crazy political opinions.
