I have found that the prix fixe menus offered during Coolinary Month, Restaurant Week and Reveillon have decreased in value over the years as New Orleans tourism has improved. Prices have increased while selection decreased. You're often better off ordering straight off the menu. Just my opinion.

I generally agree, although 5 courses at the Gumbo Shop for $34 is a steal for a casual but tasty feast. Had the duck a couple years back and it was quite good.

Agree.
Reveillon and the Coolinary deal were both started a while back when tourism suffered during that time.
Nola used to struggle during Christmas time several years ago. Not so now.
Just go to some normal romantic feeling local places and enjoy yourself.
