There was a pretty good 60 minutes piece on Renzi and the election a week or 2 ago. They definitely need some reform, and part of his plan seemed reasonable, like reducing the number of senators, but where he lost me was that he wanted them to be appointed by the PM not elected by the people.

For clarity, this was just some portion, right? That's what I recall. I take no position on whether the reform package was good or bad, but I agree, I think some of them probably would have helped.
