I was trying to get this heavy duty epoxy off of some concrete a few years ago, so I got some muriatic acid from my uncle's buddy. He's one of those guys that has shite that you're not supposed to have, so he just handed me some brown jugs with liquid. Did not know it was like 50% or whatever, and I needed to dilute it, so I just poured it into a pump sprayer and started spraying it on the concrete.
After about a minute, I noticed liquid dripping on my boots. Turns out, the fricking acid was eating through the damn nozzle and hose on the pump sprayer, so I put it on the ground. It all poured out and made the concrete smoke yellow. I tried to spread the leftovers around with a broom. Didn't work too well because I had to keep dancing around the yellow smoke emanating from the concrete. It was pretty funny seeing all of the concrete yellow, but not so funny about everything dissolving and all of the smoke.
After all of that, my eyes burned like hell for a few days, and I was constantly coughing for 2-3 weeks after that. Plus, I still had to do the concrete.
I have a buddy who was a safety guy at DOW, and I asked him wtf I did wrong. Instead of laughing at me (like I would), he got angry and chewed me out.
I'll read the label next time

Muratic acid is no joke.
I used it to remove gold from 300 old laptops. Yielded an ounce but I read up a lot on it and wore gas mask while fricking with it.

Damn man I'd say you were playing with fire but that would be an understatement. Had a crew use some on a job last week and I made them wear respirators and acid resistant suits using. a 10:1 dilution.
HCl is scary shite.
Was just with my friend in environmental with LAO and they still don't know what caused this.
