Why doesn't the media ever ask Muslim Americans what their beliefs are?
There is nothing innately wrong with Islam.
Just as there is nothing innately wrong with most religions.
Many would likely reject those facts based on preconception bias. But given the correct forum, at least having the discussion would be a great start.
As I've said here in the face of some consternation, comparative religions should be taught in secondary school for the same reason.
Where extremism kicks in, the story changes. Eric Robert Rudolph, The Branch Davidians, Horrors of Islamic Terror, etc.

Something is wrong with Islam at its most basic level. Its a vile and evil political ideology. It isn't a religion.
It is an authoritarian and pseudo-fascist ideology with the sole purpose of global conquest of the world in the name of Allah. Only the people of the book (Jews, Christians, Hindus and possibly Buddist) have an opportunity to live without converting. They just have to pay a ridiculous tax and can't have any leadership roles.

It's innately a violent political movement, not a religion - that's what's fundamentally wrong with it.
Ponder this: The more radical a Buddhist becomes, the more pacifistic they get. The more radical a Muslim becomes, the more likely they are to blow up a shopping center.
