It took my wife and I less than a week to get everything changed over. It wasn't particularly difficult, and we could have done it faster had we chosen to.

People in medical fields have professional licensing, multiple insurance panels, liability insurance, etc to change. In addition, you have a whole new history to create. I get why some professions don't change their names. As long as the kids will take the man's name and the wife is fine using the husband's name socially, who the hell cares?

ETA: It's a bitch just changing an address for these things, never the less a name. You have to provide all sorts of documentation in steps. Change legally, then change on your license, change on your bank accounts and business license. Then, once those are done, submit changes to the insurance companies you accept....it is a serious PITA

I said I have no problem with it. But the process isn't all that hard, but again I fully understand why some would choose not to.
