No I'm not. But I do find it comical how he's losing his mind over the aspect of someone wanting to keep their name (professional reason or not). It's alot of "I think" talk and not much rational explanation. If you don't truly know the person you marrying and the fact they didn't take your name is a huge red flag. Then you probably have no business marrying them in the first place.

Also, someone using the term "beta" in 2016 should be the first red flag their opinion is terrible.

Not married. Got it.

Sometimes people you think you know surprise you. Relationships are almost always wonderful at the start, and many people behave very differently once they get years into a relationship.

You should not sneer at something as symbolically important as this in a relationship. It isn't the cause of a difference so much as the first major opportunity for a man to see where he really falls in his bride to be's priority list. It does place her father's name above her husband's name in importance if she retains it and shuns her husband's.
