I think his point is that the playoff selected by committee is one big stupid "eye test" that was conceived in the wake of the '12 championship game which everybody outside the SEC hated. The committee is a big dog and pony show and the eye test is just code for quality control of the national championship game. The committee will emphasize different things every year depending on what serves them best.
