Etling has been more than serviceable this season and an upgrade over Harris.

He'll be a very good quarterback next season. Scott will be his back up and will be used situationally. Brennan will red shirt, with the plan being much like Ole Miss intended for Shea Patterson before Chad Kelly's injury.

True.......If he is lights out in the bowl game.....we have an undisputed leader heading into the offseason.

He's accurate and smart. Just has to get those jitters out in the big games.

Perception does not equal reality. He can play solid against bad defenses and shite against good ones. Sounds like what we've had all along

With experience and maturity I believe he will be better next year. Players tend to improve and I certainly do not think he has peaked.

Are you talking about our QB or our OL?

This is the answer! It's not the QB!

Etling is not good enough to lead this program. It's sad that people see a QB make 1 play and anoint him savior.

He is consistently inaccurate with any pass orver 5 yards. Either overthrows or one-hops it. Panics 90 percent of the time he sees one ounce of pressure.

Look "ok" against horrible defenses and like sht against any defense that says boo. So glad a real OC next year will have Narcisse, Scott, and Brennan to take over.

He can be. I think he can be a Matt Flynn type. He has more playing experience than Flynn did going into his Redshirt Senior season. We just need a good offensive system.

Look at all of those Bama QBs that have had success in the Saban era. You don't think Etling is capable of doing what they did? I do. You don't need an elite prospect to win in college football, but it's not like he was chopped liver coming out of HS. He was a 4 star QB.

I agree. Our QB play has been so bad Etling looks better than he really is. He's hut his ceiling. He's serviceable and will make a fine back up next year.

Bama has trotted out True Freshman and RS Freshmen out that have out performed Etling and Harris for that matter. I mainly blame Cam and Les, but Etling would not see the field at Bama. Hell Blake Barnett hasn't seen the field much and he's better than Etling.

Time to move on before he holds this team back. He did not look like a guy that's been out of high school 3 years. I think people think just because he went to Purdue he has to be smart and as good as Brees.

Come on guy! DE is as tough as they get. Have you been paying attention to the OL play against Bama and Fla?

Sure, he had bad throws against the gumps but the Bama secondary played lights out as well to go along with their pass rush.

This offense broke records on top of records with DE at the helm for a reason. He needs to get that recognition because he has earned it at this point.

Tough is his SEC-caliber attribute. Every other pass over 5 yards is either overthrown or one-hopped. He doesn't know when to run and he had plenty of those opportunities. At least pick up 2 or 3 yards and slide.

As far as records, we played against historically bad defenses in most of those games. It's not hard to break offensive records when you have Guice and Fournette running wild. No doubt in my mind that we could have been breaking records if CLM and Cam could run a decent offensive scheme.

Maybe that's because better defenses that overpower our O-line make it hard for a QB and RBs to function. You can't lay it all at the feet of our skill players. It's more accurately the fault of our O-line.

Fournette didn't do shite against Bama the last 2 years - does that mean he "played like shite?" No, our O-line got pushed around and no RB can gain yards when that happens.

Well since he's all we have it's kind of a moot point. Isn't it?

Don't see this situation any different that the situation with Harris starting and people wanting to give Etling a shot. We can only go up from Etling. He's 3 years removed from HS and still plays like he did when he wasn't that good in HS. Time to move on.

I'm all for him starting the bowl game since he wasn't replaced in the UF loss. You can't replace him after a win. But, if we are up big in the second half, we should let some other guys get some experience.

If Etling was the QB of any other team in the SEC you would all be screaming about how bad he was. It's possible to be objective about LSU's starting quarterback and still be an LSU fan. He was benched at Purdue for a reason. He scored zero and 10 points vs Florida and Bama for a reason. In 2 of the games he played "so great in" an LSU running back rushed for A SINGLE GAME SCHOOL RECORD. And in another Guice put up 250 while Fournette had over 100.

It's like you guys forget he was 6-14 for 100 yards vs Jacksonville St or towards the end of the 3rd quarter vs Auburn he had a total of 31 yards passing. He had 92 yards passing vs Bama. We got 6 first downs. Harris scored 16 points in Tuscaloosa last season. I'm not making these stats up. They are facts. He isn't any good. Down vote away

Don't see him as the one getting us over the hump but who knows. Just want an open competition and like to see what our new OC wants to do or possibly bring in
