fricking Baylor made Briles a scapegoat you dolt.
This.
Here's a nice response to a similar claim with 4 links added for further reading. Although I'm sure 90% of you won't bother reading this post, much less the 4 links- it doesn't take away from the validity of the response. That's also precisely why you're still believing bullshite and allow the media to lead you with a carrot.
Jonathan stoops:
Can't blame her after the way they've been treated. Everyone commenting here is doing so based on the absolutely unreal level of sensational and manipulative reporting that's out there.
Set aside your disgust for just a second! I'm not condoning rape or valuing football above all else. I just happen to be opposed to the judgement and defamation of others without evidence supporting the guilt of those individuals.
A few desperate and angry members of the Baylor Board of Regents ran an end-around on the entire university, the entire country really, and it has crushed the reputation of one man (Art Briles) and ruined the image of the university.
Facts - Neither Briles nor his staffers have been shown to have acted inappropriately or illegally in 8 1/2 years of emails, text messages, and recorded conversations collected by investigators.
The initial incidents reported by the media involving Ukuachu and Elliot (the impetus for the PH report and the media blitz) were handled promptly and legally by all parties. Both players were immediately suspended from the team when allegations were made, all documentation was provided to the DA, and both players were indicted and eventually found guilty. Neither player ever played a down after accusations were made.
Briles was not "fired" but rather "reached a settlement agreement with both parties mutually agreeing to part ways" which has been reported to have cost Baylor >$20 million.
Baylor (and Briles) were so "guilty" that the NCAA found no infractions worthy of sanctions (related to the handling of sexual assault/rape cases).
It had already been reported that certain members of the Board of Regents were uncomfortable with the level of influence wielded by former President Starr and Briles and that actions had already been attempted to remove Starr from his office.
Baylor has arranged non-disclosure agreements with every person involved in this saga to prevent any narrative other than their own from being discussed. Not a "fact" but it's not a big leap to think that's also why they retained the rest of the staff and barred them from contact with the media for the duration of the season.
Baylor's own recently resigned Title IX coordinator is on tape saying it's "not a football problem" and implying the regents "have their own agenda".
Interim Coach Grobe noted he'd found no inappropriate culture or culture of sexual aggression within the program. Nothing that needed changing. He was then asked by the Regents to "clarify" his statements the next day with scripted response referencing vague problems and a lack of education.
------------
It's stunningly difficult for people to see and hear the truth in this entire drama but I am hopefule it will eventually see the light of day. Sadly it will be too late to mitigate much of the damage to Briles and even to the university community. It's unfortunate that the sensitive nature of such heinous acts as assault and rape can prevent exposure or discussion of the truth. Baylor fans and players have essentially been labelled enablers and criminals themselves this season. Why? Because they've paused long enough to see the gaping holes in the "evidence" presented and would like to know the truth. Or maybe they've even gone so far as to support someone they see as innocent till proven guilty.
