Buy a 6k or 7k priced mid 2000s Camry. It's totally realistic if you can lower your standards for something that allows you to move from A to B.

Wasn't a study recently done that showed 7 out of 10 Americans have less than $1000 in their bank accounts?

Lots of college graduates out there making less than $40k per year. Say you're making $700 or so per week before taxes ($36,400/year). Factor in health insurance, car insurance, rent, bills, etc. and you must understand that not everyone can pull $7k out at one time for a car.
