no I just think alleva's ego wouldn't allow him to play ball with Jimbo. To get a guy to essentially make a lateral move, you're going to have to make one hell of an offer. If he was your guy this year and last year, you don't let ego stand in the way.

Not necessarily disagreeing with you cause there's no way to actually know, but I don't think Jimbo was serious either. Asking for a guaranteed 10 year deal is ludicrous. I think he pulled the same thing last year too. He is a king in Tallahasee, and he has very little to gain and everything to lose by coming to the SEC West.

Think about it, everyone is on board with firing Miles and hiring Jimbo until a few days before the AtM game, right when Miles was all but fired in the media, and serious talks would have started. No way with all the leaks and publicity King and the board, for three weeks, just never thought to ask what the number would be and suddenly their balls fell off. Jimmy Sexton is not the guy you want to just hand free leverage. He bragged in 05' that when negotiating with LSU he raised the number to a ridiculous sum he never thought they'd take, and was floored when they said yes. It's basically what made him famous.

Again, not knighting for Joe, in fact it's even more of an indictment on him IMO that he put all his money on either Jimbo or Herman and never thought past O, when he one was spoken for by a blue blood and the other likely wouldn't be swayed for anything less than to be made untouchable.
