The whole "search" just seemed pathetic. The fact that Alleva said he wasn't going to get into a "bidding-war" was asinine. Guess what Joe? The moment you fired Miles you entered into a bidding war whether you liked it or not. Herman, Fisher, et al didn't NEED the LSU job. LSU NEEDED a HC. If Alleva didn't think he was going to have to pay huge dollars to get one of his top picks, then he is a complete moron.

That aside, why the rush to hire Ogeron before the regular season even ended? Ogeron wasn't getting a serious HC offer from anyone else. You didn't have to beat other programs to the punch. Was the list really just Fisher, Herman, Ogeron? If that is the case, then why not just fire Miles last season and name Ogeron HC? At least LSU wouldn't have wasted this season.

Even more bizarre is the fact that Joe "wasn't going to get in to a bidding war", yet he basically got into a bidding war with himself to hire is own DL coach. No one else in the country was paying Ogeron $3 million, so why is LSU? If you want to be fair, put together an incentive-laden contract. If O performs well, then he gets paid handsomely for his efforts. This is the same stupidity used in the Johnny Jones contract. Jones is making $1.5 million when his only market is/was North Texas and LSU. Jones would have crawled to LSU from Denton, Tx to be the HC. There was no reason to give him a substantial raise to come here. Likewise, there has been ZERO reason to give him additional raises and extensions since he's been here. No one is beating down LSU's door to get Jones.

Alleva pisses and moans about not getting price-gouged, then turns around and OVERPAYS his HC's. It's mind blowing!
