The movie for the story aspect. The anime for some character background.
I would def watch the movie.

With the movie and show it takes about 3 hours to watch both of them. I was afraid that the anime would be like a full season but it is only 5 short episodes.

I got mine Tuesday but my strategy guide still hasn't come in and I'm weird about playing a FF without a guide because I'm so scared I'll miss something. Going to be at the hunting camp all weekend hopefully it's here by Monday. From what you guys have said it sounds great

I see the anime takes place after their journey has started.. is this going to ruin some story elements?
Edit: nvm I see it's more like backstories

Finally put in about 7 hours last night. Got to level 8. Explored quite a bit. Stumbled acrossing a little hidden fishing hole in hammerhead east of the car shop tucked away in some ruins. Seem to also have found a lot of that places that I assume I will return to to fight enemies and stuff. Both the FF and I are hooked. She's uploading prompto photos out the arse on Facebook.

Has anyone figured out how to Libra scan for weakness? I got the analyze command for ignis and I'm playing on active combat mode but I can't see weakness anymore. It seems that early on when I held r1 to target I would see them in the top left on the screen but I believe havent seen any weakness now in hours..
I know he's supposed to scan automatically

I finished the anime and movie. I thought the anime was pretty slow and it is about Notic and his three friends which uses flashback to tell how they know each other. The movie I thought was solid until the last 40 minutes which Michael Bay would have jizzed so many times watching explosions.

Movie was surprisingly good. I lower my expectations given that I just wanted it to add to the story...a good story

I thought the first hour and 20 minutes was good. The last 40 minutes became just action and the plot was pretty much over.

Started playing about 3 days ago. 20 hrs in and around level 24. The last FF I really loved was IX. Liked X pretty well. Hated everything after it. So far the hours are melting away like old school final fantasy. That shite were you plan to go to bed in like 15 and then look down and are in awe of how fast an hour just passed.
Some observations:
-love having towns and lots of mini-games back. Really serves as a nice distraction to breaks things up
-I really like the camping/food/level up system Im kind of enjoying the overarching management of my party. Like getting geared up for a big dungeon or a full few days of hunting.
-The combat, in wait mode at least, is really very engaging once you get into the flow of it. Darting in and out of combat with warp blade and aerial combos is a lot of fun. Wait mode adds to the strategic aspect of the game as much as you want it to and appeals to the turn based fan in me. I don't stay in wait a lot, but I like that its there. Ive never come close to running out of the timer.
-There are quite a few annoying technical glitches right now, but nothing that seriously impeding my enjoyment

I was waiting on somebody to say something. I'm a rare breed, a borderline alcoholic outdoorsman that loves anime, video games, and fantasy novels. Finding a balance is the challenging part lol

I did it. I beat the level 52 dude in belouve mines. Unlocks the kings bow and is
Loaded with great items. You can get behind the door, explore! Do NOT attempt without major lighting magic. Beat at level 20 chapter 2

How in the frick do I equip shite from the ascension screen? I've unlocked a few upgrades but I don't see how to use them?

Listening to all the old songs while roaming around in the regalia is hitting me right in the feels with some nostalgia.
Wish they'd put ff viii and ix out on PS4. I may have to sink some time into vii and x soon.
Been enjoying xv thus far as well.

What upgrades specifically are you talking about? Like with techniques; you'd go to a character's individual "gear" screen and change it
