I haven't been to either place in 50 years but growing up in New Iberia, Delcambre was middle class white people and Hopkins St was poor whites and some blacks. The all black neighborhood was Morbihan and they were poor but rural and had very low crime. Lydia had a high population of blacks but they were farmers and they weren't poor.
