The real question is why did we only play A&M in baton rouge unless it was a bowl game for like 50 years.

Because they had a high school stadium

I have been going to LSU - A&M games since 1966. I vividly remember the 1970 game when A&M won on a last minute Hail Mary pass to McElroy. I think the reason we used to play in BR every year was because College Station was remote and they did not draw big crowds there back then. Same with Miss. State. It is also why Ole Miss used to play games in Jackson.

Same reason so many of the Ole Miss and Miss State games were here. We had a real stadium, they didn't.
