I think all this discounting of Herman is idiotic. He goes from the hottest prospective coach to someone no one wants due to a few bad games at Houston? His players at Houston have checked out. Everyone knows Herman is gone after this year. It is hard to motivate and inspire when the players know the coach is leaving. I don't believe Texas is a lock to fire Strong. Plus, even if they did fire Strong, we really don't know how Herman feels about the LSU job vs Texas. I think it should be 50/50 between Herman and Jimbo, and coach O a distant third. If Jimbo wants too much, go after Herman. I'm thinking Herman will definitely listen and he is a damn good coach.

If, and it is a big IF, Herman beats Louisville tomorrow, watch his stock on this board skyrocket.

I feel like we could probably get away with paying about $1m less for Herman, I personally don't think his resume demands any more than 5.5 max with performance bonuses.

I agree plus Herman may be easier to attain than a Fisher

People love to knock Herman for certain games but even Saban had bad losses in his first stint.. it's more impressive what he's done with time to prep vs far superior teams.

Houston really isn't that good to begin with.. and agree they have checked out.

LSU will win those games Houston might struggle with. We need a great x and o guy to get to elite levels IMO. Hiring OC is a far more risk for an LSU program built to win now. I see top OC hires start out strong but fall off fast. I remember LSU fans wanting Enos from Arky just this season.. now look at them lol.

LSU isn't discounting Herman because of losses at Houston, it's because he's not interested in LSU.

He went from nothing to the hottest prospect based on a couple of games as well.

If LSU is such a landing spot, why negotiate with Jimbo over such trivial issues as living expense? If the guy is going to be paid over $5 million a year, screw him for asking more for "living expenses." I'd give him the finger and put all the focus on Herman. Remember, the coach works for LSU, LSU doesn't work for the coach!
