Found Persimmon tree that is loaded. I have a permanent stand in the area, probably 100 yards away, but can't see the tree due to palmettos. Should I set up a new stand in sight, or just stay where I am at. I have been hunting this stand for over 10 years and have never noticed persimmons.

Multiple stands. You don't want to have to make your approach with the wind at your back.

One of my buddies found a loaded persimmon tree last week. Hung his climber 20 yards from it and stuck a nice 8 point that evening.

I pretty much had same experience 10 or so years ago. Big arse oak took it out year or so after I found it

Don't worry about deer and just eat the persimmons. Man I love those things.

Dang, I have found them this late only once. I had no idea they were there either. I killed a buck going to them and found them tracking him.
I would find how they are coming to them through the palmetto and hunt the wind on those access trails.

figure out how they get to the tree, set up on trails going to the tree, make sure wind is right when you hunt it. they are super wary when heading to food source.

It is so damn dry right now, I could probably skateboard to my stand. Only sign is the tracks in the cracks! I have killed deer for years off of the nearby stand, and the tree is on a trail that I usually walk in on and have never noticed them before.

Should have stopped here. Get your lady to make some persimmon bread.

Persimmons are still in season?

it's super late, which means that tree will be a magnet for everything in the woods.

This tree is definitely in season. I did bring a few home, very very bitter

You can't eat them until they're soft

found a loaded persimmon tree in the middle of the woods on my walk back to camp after a morning hunt, set up early 25 yards downwind that afternoon and arrowed my first deer, sweet fruit late in the season is like crack to deer...

I am going back in the morning. Will check it out, I bet the deer and coons are getting the ripe ones
