3) There is zero reason to think Cal would do better

Hiring Cal would require some due diligence. You'd need to believe he'd have a decent chance at bringing in someone like Cousins. If he can then that should be enough talent to cover any coaching deficiencies he has. If he can't then you probably need to hope JVG is interested or that Ferry can find another Bud.

I would happily give up a little bit of coaching ability to get Cousins for $0.80 on the dollar. The problem is that our team is SO bad right now, NO ONE worth a shite actually wants to come here. Trading out Gentry for Cal would have helped us last offseason, but I don't think it does anything for us now or next offseason.

I don't even see how we could make a Boogie trade work without giving up Jrue. I'm down for that, but it would almost certainly include an unprotected pick (in a strong PG draft) in 2017. That leaves us without our second most valuable asset and no money to improve our team. Even if we could do Jrue + Buddy for Boogie and keep our pick, that leaves us kind of buggered at PG. Unless we're willing to extend Reke.

A Reke/Moore/QPon/AD/Boogie lineup would win a decent number of games, and be fun to watch, but pretty much guarantee that you never get out of the second round unless you can knock some 2nd round picks out of the park.

Plus I don't think Reke and Boogie want to play together.
