80% of sciatica is caused by herniation of the L4 disc ( I wrote my graduate thesis on this subject). If medications aren't working then you should seek physical therapy, stretch your hips & lower extremities, strengthen your abdominal mm & core, lose weight and correct your ergonomics in activities of daily life.

Yep, mine is screwed. Roid shots take care of it even though my left leg is numb.
