All churches I went to growing up were black churches. I had black friends growing up, but never really ever saw any racism or discrimination in my family. We discriminated on class though, regardless of color. Poor people in the ghettos or trailer parks we viewed as troublesome.
I've made the argument here many times. I'm a full blown classist. I'm sure there are many great poor people, but seeing the violence and the drugs among the poor in LA made us jaded.
My dad was a preacher growing up and used to go to the ghettos and trailer parks to hand out bible tracks, witness, etc. He had knives and guns pulled on him. I'm surprised he is still alive looking back.
