Mostly true but theres a few things with that (I view that second half as sarcasm btw)
Rural America gets exposure (albeit warped) to urban america through their TV set every day of the year.
They also visit the city for vacation business etc. Silicon valley doesnt go to Mississippi.

I grew up in a rural area and when I got to college I was dumbfounded at the amount of people that have never travled outside of the city limits.
