People don't vote for someone because of their vice president, people vote for top of ticket

There are 320 million different people in this country. They vote for a lot of diverse reasons

Kennedy picked Johnson to deliver him the state of Texas. Reagan picked Bush I as Bush was part of the Republican establishment that Reagan needed to get elected. There are numerous other examples, but these are just two.

Who you surround yourself does make an impression.

Trump choosing Pence; "who's he? Oh, this guys looks the part, sounds the part. Heck, I would have voted for him"

Hillary choosing Kaine; "who's he? Oh MY GOD what an odd, awkward, prissy little butterfly this guy seems. Who elected this weirdo as Governor? I don't want him near the Oval Office".

Trump's an outsider, and I don't think he could have gotten a more distinguished guy to be his right-hand/inside advisor, and successor down the road. I think Pence will make the right impression around the world.

Kaine is creepy. He might be brilliant, but he's not front-line material
