This conversation has been had a thousand times. Unless you change the fundamental structure of how American elections operate, you are never going to have a sustainable 3rd party. It's really that simple.
And Libertarian utopian ideas, which is what they are as far as I am concerned, are only further removed from ever becoming a reality by the further and further surge of population dependency on the government and the continuous flow of more and more 3rd world workers who have no cultural ties to concepts of individual liberty. So protest votes that only serve to ensure the victory of Hillary's, Obama's, and future Bernie's don't represent a rational strategy for political viability.
Trump's candidacy, regardless of what you think about his character, actually provides the possibility for fundamentally altering the platform of a major political party. That's the more rational course for achieving meaningful political change from the orthodoxy in my opinion.
