I get confused all the time between 6'5 pro athletes and their infant sons. I'm glad for the distinction

It's not a trend. Believe it or not some fathers name their son after their own self.

Why are people seriously bothered by this?

They could have full names (with a nickname in the middle) on their unis for all I care.

Not as bad the trend of starting threads complaining about putting "Sr." behind your name.

This the 3rd time I've seen this exact thread on the MSB

I see people all the time formally put Sr. behind their name, but just go by their name without the suffix in general conversation. It's not anything "new".

They should never have let RGIII get away with that to start. The only time a suffix should be used, or first initial, is when another person with the same name (family member or otherwise) is on the same team. The purpose is to help identify players, not honor family heritage.

In the early 1970s, Rudy Tomjanovich briefly had "Rudy T" on the back of his Rockets jersey, which the NBA eventually squelched. Soon "He Hate Me IV" will make its appearance.

Absolutely nothing wrong with it.

You're mentally challenged.

So are fake dreadlocks but they're also really common.
