Question for those who would "cut Orgeron some slack" because he is "one of us."

I'm curious. I've read more than a few posters take this position--a number who are tenured, good posters--the attitude that "Coach O is a Cajun and fits perfectly. I could put up with him losing a few."
I'm not condemning you feeling that way, but just want to know:
Would you be happy with Orgeron if his record matched Miles's since 2012?
Would Orgeron be excused from the goal of competing for SEC/National Championships most years?
Hell, at this point, I don't know. I'm rooting for O to win out because I'm rooting for LSU to win out. I think O is my solid third choice behind Herman/Fisher.
But I honestly think that as loaded as this team is, a merely competent coach should win out with maybe a loss to the gumps. I get more and more pissed every day when evidence on and off the field point to how much Les held this team back.
I'm just wanting to know, from those of you who would give the job now to Orgeron because he's a Cajun, to what standards you would hold him as HC and the LSU football program under his leadership.
Would Orgeron get a pass from you that other coaches wouldn't?

I think there's a big difference between rooting for CEO to succeed and cutting him some slack. If he puts together a string of losses where it's evident he's been out coached, the slack in the line will certainly tighten up. Of course he's going to have some losses. That goes without saying. There's a big difference between beating yourself and being beaten though. Seems like more times than not LM got in his own way. I for one would love to see CEO succeed… He is a Cajun after all and you'll find no one with more LSU in his heart than him.

Yes. It's more than wins and losses for this season alone.
He is bringing the fire back, he has United the team, the fan base is coming back stronger, and we are winning with style. Add that with he can recruit with the best of them, and that is a recipe for success and plenty of wins. Miles would still be here is his losses weren't totally incompetant and stale because he was winning games at a high rate.

I'd just like to point out that UH was losing to UCF, who was 0-12 last year, at the time that you published your OP. Herman should not be mentioned in the same breath with LSU, whether they win or lose today.

There is a huge difference between losing and getting beat. You can hold your head up if you play your best and just get beat. Making stupid coaching errors and "finishing second" is unacceptable

I really don't get the infatuation with Fisher. He's a better coach but he's proven that he can lose to lesser talent. I get Herman but is he really a better option than O? Coach O has proven to be one of top 2-3 recruiters in college football. At a minimum, that's a top 3 requirement and maybe #1. LSU has the highest payroll in CFB which should tell you that any HC will have the opportunity to hire the best coordinators. To your question specifically...yes, he should get an edge because he loves La and I believe him when he says that LSU is his dream job. If he gets the job...do you think he'd ever leave for another HC position (college or pro)? I don't.
Coach O is changing my opinion one game at a time. Why not give him a chance to earn the job.

On a personal level, I wasn't willing to give Miles slack for how good a person he is, that he wasn't "one of us", that he had to follow Saban, or any of the excuses. So I'm, again on a personal level, not willing to give CEO slack for those reasons, the opposite reasons, or anything in between. Can't find a reason OR excuse to cut CEO slack anyway. He has great talent, not like he walked in cold (was already in program), the only key staff member he wasn't extremely familiar with was Aranda and he was his boss.
But... if haven't seen anywhere where CEO NEEDED to be cut some slack, yet- we'll see the day after Thanksgiving. And that is the point.
