The problem is I don't talk enough. It's starting to piss people off that I'm a fly on the wall and I don't have anything to say. I probably am depressed but I refuse to go see a doctor because that's not how I was raised. It was always if you have a problem fix it growing up but this it's driving me fricking insane.

You really shouldn't choose this situation as the one where you are going to be stubborn. I was joking above but you can get an addiction to a lot worse things than Ativan or Klonopon trying to ease this feeling, or it may get progressively worse to the point of suicide or something else awful. Depression is nothing to mess around with, SSRIs are shitty useless medicines but benzos are relatively harmless and have a low addiction profile compared to other drugs (as long as you don't take Xanax, or some other less popular benzos that a doctor is unlikely to prescribe). I would go to the doctor immediately and get put on a very small dose of Ativan or Klonopin and just take it as needed and say goodbye to this problem. If you really don't want to risk addiction just get a prescription for gabbapentin.

Well. Keep kicking that can down the road I guess. You're allowed to grow up from "how you were raised."

In lieu of professional (read: real) help, go for a run, lift some weights, break a sweat. Knocking the dust off physically can have a strong effect doing the same mentally.

Whenever there is awkward silence just start taking your pants off. It'll all work itself out after that.
