Do what you want. I hate the everyday mundane life. You get one chance to do what you want and that's what I'm doing. I have a dream and I want to chase it. I'd rather fail at something I want to do than fail at something I didn't even want to do in the first place(Jim Carrey commencement speech). It's hard believe me. But you have to have a positive attitude throughout all the ups and downs. I can assure you that I am in a downward spiral right now but I know there is a light at the end of the tunnel. No matter how small the light may seem or if you think the light is getting bigger and then fades away to a pin hole again, keep pushing forward. I currently live in my truck. Going from parking space to parking space wondering where I will be able to sleep without getting fricked with. It's easy for me to see why desperate times call for desperate measures and why people choose to go the criminal way. I get it. But I was raised to be a fighter and work my way out of my current situation. Doubt is a natural thought process for humans. But positivity will always conquer negativity. Do what you want and stay positive. You'll get to where you want to be.

Meditation
Stoicism (can also co-exist with you current religious beliefs, used by ancient cultures)
This is a good start, especially the meditation element. My advice:
1) Golden Rule - put yourself first, for now, at all costs. Not as selfish as it sounds.
2) Exercise- from heavy lifting to a simple walk.
3) Routine - if you dont have one, make one.
4) Reading, Learning
5) Purpose- find it. Sounds so generic, but it's not. This will probably be your biggest challenge. Requires self-study, reading, learning and time.
6) Meditation/mindfulness
7) Travel
8) Medication
9) Consider alternative medicine/healing (but first, read/learn)
10) Align with people who are emerging (ie, on the up) from similar situations. Once you start your upward trend, start helping others.
