Maybe there is something to personal responsibility and internal locus of control psychology. Maybe embracing education, family and hard work really does result in "economic privilege". Maybe 75% out of wedlock birth rates, not excelling in school and not having solid employment really does result in a lack of "economic privilege". Maybe the issue lies within yourself.

Maybe the word "privilege" is a faulty assumption. Maybe those who display merit appear "privileged" to those who lack both.
