Giles is 9600 acres and is connected to Rifle Point HC (approx. 3200 acres) to the north by a roadway across the Old River Chute.
The chute in some places is less than 50-100 yards wide and deer can easily swim it if necessary.
From talking to guides, after the big flood in 2011, they have pictures of bucks near the middle of the island both before and after the flood in nearly the same place. Once they leave, they find their way back due to the incredible amount of food and the lack of pressure.
